New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to media reports.

The right-hander, 23 years old, was arrested in Tampa, Florida, where he has been working to rehabilitate his shoulder injured in March.

Pineda has not pitched this season.

He was arrested just before three in the morning this past Monday and then taken to Hillsborough County Jail.

He was released later on $500 bail.

New York traded slugging catcher Jesus Montero to the Seattle Mariners for the promising pitcher this past offseason.

In unrelated DWI and DUI news, a shoe mogul was arrested recently for DWI in Colorado.

After one of the three founders of the Crocs, Inc. shoe company was pulled over in his black Porsche Carrera in Colorado, he reportedly told a police officer that his "really (expletive) famous" girlfriend, country singer Taylor Swift, had actually been driving.

When the officer asked where Swift was, the shoemaker replied that she was probably in Nashville.

Swift, 22, is reportedly dating Conor Kennedy, son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

In DWI news closer to our Newburgh home, a former Oneida County lawmaker accused of hiding out of state in an effort to avoid DWI-related charges has had his case postponed.

The 47-year-old appeared in a New York court last week to face charges that have been pending for seven years. He was arrested in 2005 and again in 2008, according to reports.

He was a county legislator back in the late 1990s.

He was convicted of felony DWI back in 2005 and put on probation. He's charged with violating that probation in 2008 when he was arrested again for felony DWI.

He had reportedly been living in Georgia until he was found by U.S. marshals.
